Malaka in concert: an organic and captivating Guadeloupean experience. Malaka, a sister duo formed by Laurina and Sacha, takes the stage with gentle, rhythmic and deeply organic music. With voices that harmonize like a single breath, they create a vibrant world of raw melodies and sensitive poetry. Accompanied by guitar, cajón and percussion by Thimothée Faure, they evoke the sweetness of honey, spices and an energy reminiscent of CocoRosie. Their influences—from Joy Crookes to Little Simz—shape a distinctive style that is both intimate and powerful. With their debut EP, Malaka explores our roots and what connects us, opening a dialogue with the audience around their mysterious “Maï.” Daughters of a Creole world, often compared to Ibeyi, they are forging their own path. This show is co-presented with Alliance Française Ottawa.
